Learn about Wi-Fi HotSpots

What Is a Hotspot?
An increasingly popular way to work and play on the go, hotspots provide wireless LAN service, for free or for a fee, from a wide variety of public meeting areas, including coffee shops and airport lounges. There are currently thousands of hotspots worldwide—and new access points are being added daily.
Using a Hotspot
To use these hotspots, your notebook must be configured with Wi-Fi-CERTIFIED* technology so you can connect with other Wi-Fi-CERTIFIED* products. Wi-Fi-enabled notebooks can send and receive data indoors and out—anywhere within the range of a wireless LAN base station. With Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology, you get integrated wireless LAN connectivity and the Wi-Fi certification you need.
Mobility Make the move to wireless Internet access at home and read about how people like you are using wireless LAN and hotspots in their everyday lives. Learn what it takes to unwire your small business or the enterprise.

How to Unwire
1 Purchase a wireless LAN-capable notebook. Intel Centrino mobile technology is built for wireless LANs and doesn't require additional add-on cards or equipment. You can also set up other notebooks to be wireless using an adapter card and accompanying software.
2 Sign up with a wireless Internet service provider. Configure your notebook according to their instructions.
3 Connect from hotspots or any wireless LAN base station.
